The Lady Cougar Varsity Volleyball team unfortunately lost against Christiansburg last night with a record of 0-7.
Despite their loss the Lady Cougars have made lots of progress. The varsity team successfully ran their trick play two times! In one of the sets they lost twenty to twenty five which was a lot closer than previous games.
“It was better than our other games, but still not the best,” Jaden Lawson said.
The Pulaski County JV volleyball team also lost their game against Christiansburg last night to make their record 0-7.
The JV Cougars had a slight setback before yesterday's game after finding out that their coach and one starter had to miss the game. The score in the first set was 25-11.
”I feel like everyone could've played a lot better and we didn’t show our true potential,” Bethany Lester said.
“We didn’t play like we know how to play and that lost us the game” Maggie Shartzer said. “We told ourselves that we were gonna play so much better and we definitely didn’t do that.”
The second set went better for the cougars, with a score of 25-12. Although the score didn’t change a lot we adjusted the rotation which made things a lot smoother for the Cougars. The starters for the second set were Madison Williams, Lexi Andrews, Madolyn Legg, Maggie Shartzer, Josey Smythers, and Bethany Lester.
“We were very supportive and trying to lift each other up last night,” Smythers said.
Although the Cougars lost yet again they are going to try their hardest to turn their season around.
Tonight they go on to play Carroll. They have already played Carroll once and hope for revenge against their opponent. The team has kept an optimistic view about the season regardless of their record. Hannah Keefer said, “I am excited to keep getting closer with my teammates and continue to improve.”
Lawson said, “I feel like we will grow and learn to work together better”.
The Lady Cougars go forward with excitement for the rest of the season.
